AND PHOTOS

Fabian Edwards Wins the 2025 PFL Middleweight World Tournament Championship
Oleg Popov Wins the 2025 PFL Heavyweight World Tournament Championship
Antonio Carlos Jr. Wins the 2025 PFL Light Heavyweight World Tournament Championship

The 2025 PFL World Tournament Finals concluded tonight at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, with Tournament Champions being crowned in the Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight and Middleweight divisions.

In the main event, Birmingham's Fabian Edwards (16-4) battled American Top Team's Dalton Rosta (11-2) in a tightly contested clash. Rosta pressed early with relentless takedown attempts and clinch work against the SmartCage, but Edwards consistently broke free and fired back with strikes. After two competitive rounds, Edwards took command in the third, unleashing a sharp elbow, punishing body kick, and a devastating head kick, reminiscent of his brother's trademark finish, to capture the 2025 PFL World Tournament Championship.

In the co-main event, Moldova's Alexandr Romanov (19-4) and Russia's Oleg Popov (22-2) went the distance in a grueling five-round battle. Popov struck early, controlling the center and attacking Romanov's legs, while Romanov answered with clinch pressure and knees in the middle rounds to wear him down. Momentum shifted back and forth, Romanov grinding in the clinch, Popov rallying with late combinations, but after 25 hard-fought minutes, the judges awarded Popov a split-decision victory to claim the tournament title.

The main card opened with a Light Heavyweight clash between Sullivan Cauley (8-2) and former PFL Champion Antonio Carlos Jr. (19-6). Both men traded heavy right hands in the first, each scoring knockdowns in a wild round. Cauley started strong again in the second, but after a cut and an eye poke interruption, the tide turned. Carlos Jr. capitalized with a takedown and locked in a rear-naked choke, earning the submission win, the World Tournament crown, and a $500,000 prize.

CHARLOTTE FIGHT NIGHT RESULTS AND PHOTOS

CHARLOTTE (August 15, 2025) – The 2025 PFL World Tournament Finals continued tonight at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, with Tournament Champions being crowned in the Lightweight, Bantamweight and Women's Flyweight divisions.

In the main event, 2024 PFL Lightweight Champion Gadzhi Rabadanov (26-5-2) squared off with London Shootfighters standout Alfie Davis (20-5-1) in the Finals of the 2025 PFL Lightweight World Tournament. The bout delivered a little bit of everything, crisp striking exchanges blended with dominant grappling and ground control. Davis used his unorthodox style to keep the fight at range, while Rabadanov pressed forward in search of takedowns. The razor-thin first-round loomed large, and when the scorecards were read, all three NC Boxing and Combat Sports Commission judges saw it 48-47 for the new champion, "The Axe Man" Alfie Davis, who claimed the 2025 PFL Lightweight World Tournament Title.

The co-main event featured former Bellator World Champion Liz Carmouche (25-8) taking on world-class BJJ specialist Jena Bishop (9-3). The opening round was largely a feeling-out process until the closing moments, when Carmouche unleashed her striking to gain the edge. In the second, Bishop swung momentum her way, threatening with a deep submission attempt that forced Carmouche to battle out of danger. But in the third round, the veteran turned the tide decisively, landing a massive left hook that dropped Bishop before swarming with hammerfists to secure the finish and capture the 2025 PFL Women's Flyweight World Tournament Championship.

2025 PFL World Tournament Charlotte: Finals Main Card Results:

One of Boxing’s Biggest Olympic Controversies, Undone

Roy Jones Jr. Receives 1988 Olympic Gold Medal from Park Si Hun in Historic Gesture of Reconciliation

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2025) – In a momentous event, decades in the making, 1988 Olympic Boxing Gold Medalist Park Si Hun journeyed from South Korea to Roy Jones Jr.’s ranch in Pensacola, to personally deliver his Seoul Olympic Gold Medal to Jones. This historic exchange, which took place in May 2023, symbolizes a powerful act of reconciliation and an effort to correct one of boxing’s most enduring controversies.

Accompanied by his family, Park Si Hun surprised Jones at his home, relinquishing the medal 35 years after the sports world was stunned by the judges' decision at the Seoul Olympics. This significant meeting marks a pivotal moment for both men, as they united to address a decades-old injustice that profoundly impacted both of their lives.

In 1988, Roy Jones Jr. dominated his gold medal bout against Park Si Hun at the Seoul Olympics, an undefeated run that also earned him the Val Barker Trophy for most stylistic boxer of the games. However, to the astonishment of spectators worldwide, judges declared Park the winner by a narrow 3-2 margin. The controversial decision led to an investigation by Olympic authorities that ultimately changed the way in which Olympic bouts would be scored for years to come.

Despite the crushing defeat, Roy Jones Jr. refused to let the incident define his career. Returning to Pensacola, he was met with unwavering support from his community, particularly the young children who looked up to him. Motivated by their faith, Jones resolved never to leave the outcome of his fights to

Judges again. His subsequent triumphs cemented his legacy as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all time, becoming the first man in 106 years to start his career at junior middleweight and go on to win the heavyweight championship of the world.

Immediately following the 1988 decision, Park Si Hun apologized to Jones, acknowledging his rightful victory. However, Park's life took a downward spiral as he battled severe depression, facing multiple suicide attempts and the burden of being vilified in his home country, experiences he discussed in depth during a three-hour on-camera interview after the medal's return.

The long-awaited day of reckoning arrived on May 30, 2023. Jones, believing he was heading to the gym for a routine on-camera interview, was shocked to find Park Si Hun standing in the boxing ring. In a heartwarming and emotional scene surrounded by both families, Park greeted Roy and presented him with the Olympic gold medal. “I had the gold medal, but I wanted to give it back to you. It belongs to you,” said Park through his son who translated the moment. Park then declared, with a laugh, "This gold medal is your problem now.”

The meeting was a powerful symbol of the restoration of justice and camaraderie between the two men. Further, the private ceremony captured on camera, signifies a new beginning for both Park and Jones.
